So, one of my best friends put things into perspective for me. I feel bad. My loan officer called and said the earliest we can sign on the house is Wednesday. I wanted my parents there and asked them when they could come. Dad already had obligations Wednesday-going to Augusta with my sister to the doctor and then off to work for my brother in the afternoon. This meant that I had to put it off for the original date of closing-Thursday.
I hung up. Almost cried, then dialed home again and asked for mom. Told mom I was mad and didn't want to wait till Thursday. Mom said to Dad in the background, "Dyana wants to close Wednesday." I could hear in the background, "Why does she have to go around me?" Mom says, "Because she didn't like your answer."
So, the answer now? We close on Wednesday at Noon unless something changes.
My friend says: "i'm sorry Dy...i know you are excited, but that sounds really selfish. I know you really want this, but you have to respect your dad and his commitments. I know it is for free and that he is retired, but he is helping your brother just like he is helping you."
Friends always put things into a better perspective. I never meant for it to be a selfish kind of thing. I just didn't think it was a big deal for Dad to get off work for a half hour or so and be with me.
Sigh.
P.S. I'm in the middle of building a walk-in closet. It sucks. It's not as fun as I expected. I can't decide how I want it. It's stressful.
