I was checking a very, very, very old email account that I never use anymore, just to do the usual clean-up. I came across some old email from the past. It was from a person I knew that went to school at UGA. We were friends. Or, something like that.
He wrote this for me while looking at my picture.
A blurred headlight in a background ignored. A focused creature with acentered vision, the widest aperture couldn't take it in, but a whisper would send it reeling. It's bright outside, but it's dark in here and I can tell and I can speak, but it's still dark, or darker than out there in here. In hearing things we look away, but our smiles stay briefly; long enough tobe captured, a flash in the brightness against a white on white in white. We all look better tan, some of us never change. Long eyelashes and short eyebrows protect beauty with beauty. The ends covered in dust, it's been too long.
Where ever you are, Scott, thanks for the memory!
